John Gibson


After receiving his Bachelor of Science in political science in 1992 from the University of Houston where he was active in student government, John Gibson obtained a law degree in 1995 from the Texas Tech University Law School. Thereafter, he started a solo practice representing plaintiffs in personal injury and social security disability matters. In 1997, he began actively representing claimants before the Texas Workers Compensation Commission. Since then, he has represented over three thousand Texans in matters throughout the State of Texas. 

John is licensed by the Texas Supreme Court as well as the United States District Court for the Northern and Western Districts of Texas. He is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. He is a member of the Lubbock County Bar Association, a past Director of the South Plains Trial Lawyers Association, and a member of the American Association for Justice, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Ector County Trial Lawyers Association and Lubbock County Trial Lawyers Association.

He has spoken on workers’ compensation matters at the State Bar of Texas Advanced Workers’ Compensation Course in years 2004-2011 as well as to the South Plains Trial Lawyers Association, the Ector County Trial Lawyers Association, the Ector County Bar Association, and several employer organizations. He is board certified in Workers’ Compensation Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and also serves on the Personal Injury Trial Law Advisory Commission of the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

John serves as a leader and Sunday School Teacher at Monterey Church of Christ. He is an active supporter of the Lubbock Habitat for Humanity; Lubbock CASA; Susan G. Komen For the Cure; and Lubbock Family Promise, an assistance program for homeless families with children. He speaks Spanish and German, although not as fluently as he would like. In his spare time, he enjoys living vicariously through his two sons.
